Safety Associate
Summary of Duties
Reporting
directly to the Emergency Preparedness Administrator, the Security Associate will assist with the
preparation of Metra’s Department of Homeland Security grants. Researches,
prepares and coordinates information for future grant projects; participates in
other projects within the Police, Security and Emergency Preparedness
Department. Coordinates with other staff the oversight of Metra’s preparedness
teams to include reporting and bi-annual training and assist other locations
operated by Metra during service disruptions (emergency response), holidays and
special events. Responsible for designing security awareness materials and a
monthly emergency preparedness newsletter for Metra employees. Assists with
Department of Homeland Security grant project monitoring and perform other related duties
as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related discipline OR in lieu of degree, any combination of education and experience in administrative police, security or federal agency experience that equals four (4) years is required.
- Must have experience working with internal and external customers and vendors.
- Excellent oral, written, communication, customer service and multi-tasking skills.
- Must be able to meet deadlines, work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and establish priorities with the ability to be flexible as needed.
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have completed the following DHS/FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses or be able to complete within the first 6 months of employment: NIMS 100, NIMS 200 NIMS 700, and NIMS 800.

- Relocation is not available for this position.
